Plaka Beach
This was our favorite beach in Greece! We took the bus from Naxos Town. I believe the buses run every 1/2 hour from morning until the evening.
Parts of Plaka are organized with chairs and umbrella hires, beach tavernas and bars, as well as non organized parts. Beautiful calm clear water, soft sand, beautifully idyllic scenery combined for a wonderful experience. We visited on 3 different days.
Some parts are also nudist friendly. If clothes-free bathing interests you, we stayed on the bus until it stopped and turned around just past the Hotel Plaka, We walked towards the water and turned left (going south). After about a 5-10 minute walk, we were among numerous like-minded and respectful nudists. We had no reservation of swimming or walking the beach sans clothes.
A short walk up the beach we found a wonderful taverna (Petrino’s) that was perfect for a wonderful lunch or a cool drink. We were greeted with a warm welcome, always friendly service, and great food at good prices in a totally relaxed and chill atmosphere..
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! We rated the entire experience “excellent” and Plaka was the best beach we visited on our nearly 3-week holiday in Greece. We traveled in September 2014.
